HOW THE SCOTTISH NIGHTS CAME ABOUT
When Scotland’s leading music scene social night, Born To Be Wide, hosted a special German party in Edinburgh in February, it marked the start of a musical exchange.
Not only did it feature the Consul General DJing and a gig by Berlin’s Jeans Team, it also saw some leading lights from the German business take part in a seminar.

Among them was Katja Lucker, the programme director of Berlin’s Kulturbrauerei and booker for Karneval Der Kultur, who was so impressed that she immediately suggested a Scottish stage for the open air event on May 22.
With so much talent from across the North Sea already in town, we decided it would be good to give the visiting bands a chance to play at night and make a proper party.
Things kick off on Friday 21 May with a gig by singer-songwriter Panda Su, who never travels anywhere without her own xylophone player. The following night rising stars Woodenbox And A Fistful Of Fivers, Aaron Wright and Foxgang take to the stage. All are examples of the growing trend in Scotland for acoustic-based bands and artists combining local influences with those from elsewhere.
