live: GERDA BLANK (Rock - NZ)

GERDA BLANK was a German woman shot attempting to cross the Berlin wall. It is also the solo project name of Rhys Braddock, ex-New Plymouth escapee. Londoner Stuart Mills joined on drums in 2008 and after only 2 NZ gigs together they headed over to Europe to tour and play Festivals for the 2008 summer. Currently based in Brno, Czech Republic, they have been getting rapturous responses to their mesmerising and often choatic concerts. They have a number of European Festivals lined up for the summer and will be touring Europe again in summer. Rhys and Stu write, produce, record and design all GERDA BLANK releases on their own. The first limited edition release, "Mono No Aware" was written and recorded in Tokyo and Melbourne on Four Track. It's a schizophrenic beast eked out of a schizophrenic existence in Japan for 3 years. Rhys also has 3 solo albums recorded to be released online. 2008 saw GB record and release "O" with the help of ex-Voom instrumentalist Danny Manetto. Musically GERDA BLANK is varied: noise-rock to krautrock workouts, atmosphere, whitenoise and melody strung together with barbed wire: these walls were made for jumping. GB are currently completing new recordings done in Brno at the Indies Studio which will be released online very soon.

WHAT IS TIGHT FINKS?

A band of the Punk/Pop-Punk/Rock genre. Stylistically, they can be located among the end-70s low-budget combos from England: THE ADICTS, THE BOYS, THE VIBRATORS, BUZZCOCKS, 999 etc. Hence, they personify old-school Punkrock of the fresh and frisky kind! 

- WHERE ARE THE TIGHT FINKS?
They call the musical underground of Switzerland their home, but they have landed gigs in neighbouring countries, too. Some highlights: Almost 300 concerts, a.o. with THE ADICTS, DeeDee RAMONE, THE VIBRATORS, U.K. SUBS, THE BRIEFS, NEW YORK DOLLS, THE TOY DOLLS and several tours in 18 countries!!! 

- WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT OF THE TIGHT FINKS?
Euphoric and "tight" live shows to go off to or to simply hang out at with a cold beer in hand. The concerts have been said to be suitable for girls, who want to dance, as well.
