Monday night at the "SO-36", berlin, the true spirit of rock and roll made one of its very rare appearances. Waiting for one of many scandinavian "rocklegends" and their interpretation of rock, consisting of an array of boring licks and stale poses, three youngsters cut into the line and celebrate music as it..s supposed to be! loud, untouchable, provocing and rude! So, before the main act could even start to professionally stage the revolution, it was all there 20 minutes earlier! Protest, refusal, uproar and a huge "fuck you"! THE PICTUREBOOKS are a fountain of youth, filled to the brim with music-history. Not a band-project, but friends! No past life. No history. Just music. Three guys all together much younger than Ray Davies but stylistically confident enough to chose a "the kinks" song as their band-name. THE PICTUREBOOKS are a three-piece, celebrating stagetime, reducing music to the essentials, rock-cliche meets zeitgeist, fantastic songs and a sound very much their own! THE PICTUREBOOKS suck up influences and role models, but never copy! They spit out their version of life itself with unbreakable self-confidence.
